I really liked the view from the 15th-floor window; it was a beautiful panorama. The wind travels through the stairway which would encourage any fire to quickly travel.
Won't recommend.

Worst experience yet, booked for 2 nights & checked out after 1. The room is very clean and large. In the morning, the sun ☀️ climbs into the room and the air is filled with the fragrance of the blue sea. Please refer to the room type details for more information.

Rooms with incredible sea views, Premium and Family Rooms and a wonderful breakfast buffet. Give it a miss. Don't recommend at all. It’s scary that this place hasn’t been closed as a fire risk, there is only 1 stairway and it’s wide open into each floor level with not a single fire door so if a fire occurs there really is no way out. Hotel Alicante Gran Sol, Affiliated By MeliaLocated in the very heart of Alicante, the 4-star smoke-free Hotel Alicante Gran Sol, Affiliated By Melia offers fast access to Las Cigarreras Cultural Center, nearly 15 minutes' walk away. The safe bathrooms come with hairdryers and bath sheets. At this Alicante hotel, guests can choose from a sauna and recreational facilities. I mean come on that's ridiculous. Half board is abysmal at evening meal. The position beside the marina and old town is superb. We were surprised that the bathroom only had soap, shower gel, and shampoo in large jars, no slippers, and no drinking water. The Plaza Mar 2 Shopping Centre is 18 minutes' walk from this accommodation, while Alicante airport is 5 km from it. The bed is so hard our backs were in agony come morning and I even heard a man peeing in the next room in the middle of the night and the walls are that thin you hear every door close. It is certainly not Melia reputation. Each floor should be protected with a fire door. The lift is unsafe, it shakes & the noise is unsettling, it does not open level with each floor and every time it’s used the noise throughout the hotel is infuriating (it’s like table & chairs being scraped along flooring) - I slept no more than 1 hour. Featuring 115 rooms with views of the city, the sophisticated hotel is a mere 1.1 km from the Alicante Water Museum. The hotel sits fairly close to Explanada de Espana as well as next to a park, bars, and a marina. Breakfast was awful due to the sewage smell which was so sickening that I only managed a boiled egg which was grey inside. |
